Quote: “while domestic animals and wild animals may not be the same, they still have much in common;” … “ captive and domestic animals are in an unnatural situation”
Comment: In my opinion it is very unnatural for us humans to have domesticated animals. Like said above domesticating animals and wild animals are not the same. The act of domesticating animals should not be a common thing.
Basically striping them from their natural instincts and making them something they are not. Yeah, its fun and all to have pets such as cats and dogs, but is it fair to them. They can’t have food whenever they want, because they have to ask us. They can’t go out whenever they want because they depend on us to do so. But since they are now domesticated, if they do go out in the “wild” then they suffer because they no longer know how to.
Connection:I have a dog myself and sometimes i do wonder if she would be happier if she was wild. But then again she wouldn’t know how to so me being her owner is her best chance. However domesticating certain animals such as cattle is important and needed by society so it is okay for them to be domestic.
Questions:
Are we striping them from their freedom?
Does this count as slavery ?
